The Republicans had yet another bad week. Well, actually they’ve had a pretty bad year. No sympathy here, though. Karma mixed with integrity and honesty is a pretty powerful force.
Let’s see, most recently there was John Ensign, followed closely by Mark Sanford and now there’s Sarah Palin. I guess one bright spot is that she’s not out admitting an extra-marital affair. Instead, Palin is going for the flat out quitter card.
If you’re a quitter, you’re a quitter. You can’t be kind of a quitter or a quitter with good rationale. You’re plain and simple: a quitter. As defined by Merriam-Webster, you’re referred to as “one that quits; especially: one that gives up too easily.
Sarah Palin is a ginormous quitter and no amount of explaining or rationalizing can change that.
If she was going to quit she should have done it during the presidential election when she was so clearly not ready for the varsity team. Instead she chooses to exit now, comparing her current actions to that of a point guard who drives through a full court press and then passes the ball to win the game.

A wink and a nod, and poof she’s gone from politics!
First of all, serving as governor is not a game. And, point guards don’t walk off the court once they’ve passed the ball. They’re in it to the end, regardless of how tough it might get.
Politics are rough – campaigns especially. It brings out the worst in people. And, it seems like every election we reach new lows when it comes to the magnitude of mudslinging. Palin freely slung a lot of mud during the presidential election. But, just like the schoolyard bullies, they’re usually the biggest sissies of all and can’t take any of the brown stuff coming back their way.
When you put yourself in the public light, she knows just as well as anyone that anything goes – it comes with the territory. You can play tough and act tough, but if you can’t BE tough you shouldn’t be in office at all.
Palin rambled on during her press conference last Friday about not wanting to waste time as a lame duck. She claims it’s not fair to the people. Lame, lamer and lamest. Her paper thin resume now has a big rip in it, because honestly, what governor who’s barely half way through her first term would say she needs to leave, that she can be more effective outside of politics than in? How does that work? Writing a tell-all book and collecting inflated fees for speaking engagements will suddenly help heal this country – NOT.
I think this action serves as the icing on the cake, exposing the public even more to her irrational thought processes and decisions. Her message now seems clearer than ever. Her idea of leadership is exiting when the going gets tough. I’m thankful this at least sews up the notion some people had for her surfacing on the 2012 presidential ticket. That now would be a sad joke not even the R’s deserve.
As the old saying goes, winners never get and quitters never win. It’s truly time for Sarah Palin to get out of politics and never, ever look back.
